Gorgeous George

The One and Only made me think of perhaps the first true themed character in pro-wrestling, Gorgeous George. I actually read Ebert's review of the movie after seeing it, and he said the movie is supposed to be based on George.

He was only 5'9" and 215 lbs... I would have felt bigger than him even!

Here is a match of his vs. Canadian Larry Moquin. You can get a good idea of the character he was bringing to the ring. Despite not being a super-gifted wrestler, he could draw so much heat from his actions alone. Great stuff.
